Kuala Lumpur
When I arrived in KL, Bahar picked me up at the airport, drove me to his apartment, so I could drop off my stuff. From there we went to lunch and then headed to Batu Caves. Batu Caves are a place where thousands of Hindus come to worship. I was a few weeks early for Thaipusam festival (Bahar has some great photos online), but I arrived just in time for the unveiling of the huge gilded statue of Lord Moruga. Thousands of Hindus were present for the ceremony which ended with flower petals dropping from a helicopter.
This is a shot inside the caves. I climbed the 272 steps into the caves on an extremely hot day. Obviously the view from inside was worth it.
One of the last days of the trip, Bahar drove me through some of his old neighborhoods. It was almost like a tour of my housing in C-ville because he has lived in quite a few neighborhoods in and around KL. We drove up through a beautiful old neighborhood though and were able to get a gorgeous view of the city.
