Chinese New Year

All the students gathered at the rails on each level to see the performances in the courtyards. The primary courtyard is on the 3rd floor of the school and there are a total of 8 floors.

The school's Dragon Dance team gathers just inside the Moon Gate waiting for the Headmaster to start the celebration.

The Lions Dance was also performed by secondary level students. Two students are hidden under the costume and the team has been practicing all year to get the routines down.

The Dragon Dance Team in action. The dragon follows a ball on a stick which is just out of the picture. The dragon's body must also follow the movements of the head exactly.

Chinese New Year Photos
We had Chinese Week at school the week before the actual Chinese New Year holiday. The kids were allowed to wear Chinese outfits on Monday and Friday instead of the usual uniforms. Here are a few photos of the lion and dragon dances that were put on in the mornings. The drumming that goes along with the dances could be heard all over Hong Kong and in Malaysia.
